A layer of high-chromium white iron (HRC 60+) is hot-rolled and metallurgically bonded to a tough low-alloy steel backing. For structural components (bucket adapters, side cutters, ripper shanks), Zhili uses precision heat-treated low-alloy steels (28CrMo, 35CrMnSi). The Q&T process ensures uniform hardness through thick cross-sections, providing the impact toughness needed for severe mechanical loading.
For the most extreme abrasion applications — rock crusher jaws, dragline bucket lips, and pump impellers — tungsten carbide overlay applied by MIG/TIG welding delivers 3-5× the wear resistance of chromium carbide overlays. WC particles (HRA 89-92) are suspended in a ductile iron or Ni-based matrix.
